From Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Beden for “steadfast support” during two years of Russian occupation.
“We will always be grateful for the leadership of President Beden. We respect today's tough but strong decision”, Zelensky said.
The US under Biden has been Ukraine's top financial and military supporter, and there are concerns in both countries that support could be halted if Donald Trump wins the November presidential elections.
Otherwise, his vice president Kamala Harris thanked Beden for his extraordinary “leadership and said she was honoured to have his approval to run for the White House.
“I will do everything with my power to unite the Democratic Party and unite our nation, to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme project agenda 2025”, Harris said.
