The number of suspended officials that continue to be compensated beyond the period allowed with the provisions in force, according to the confirmations of the relevant officials, by the end of 2023, was 144. This has been verified in the case of the police officer's temporary suspension, given the decision of the 1703. 2022, which was compensated for a salary of 50 % over six months of allowed period. Furthermore, nine more cases have been verified from the salary list compared to the list of suspended”, says the report by the National Audition Office for the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the audience, it had happened after Kosovo police had yet to accept the recommendation to cut off temporary suspension by the Kosovo Police Inspectorate.
“Disrespecting the regulation in force for compensation of temporary suspension payments longer than six months could bring additional costs to the Kosovo Police budget, lowering the availability of funds for other budgetary needs.
Minister and Director General KKA must ensure that time restrictions and compensations are implemented accurately under regulations in force, avoiding possible violations and misunderstandings”, the report says.
