The Kosovo Journalists' Association has questioned the adoption of the Kosovo Law Convention for the Independent Media Commission.
The AGK's reaction says Prime Minister Kurti's Vetevendosje Movement has adopted the law with minimal quorum, and without opposition presence in the hall.
The ruling political party has not taken into account the remarks of civil society and media, and has ignored the Council of Europe expert report, which has found that much of the Law does not meet European standards, including those of the Council of Europe where Kosovo aims for membership. One such thing was highlighted today before the vote by Parliament Speaker Glauk Konjufca.
Today's vote is one of the biggest shocks the Government of Kosovo and Vetevendosje has dealt against media freedom in Kosovo, in an attempt launched since the beginning of the mandate for disciplining and controlling them”, the AGK's response said.
The AGK adds that today's vote will have another negative effect on the country's ranking in international field reports.
“The AGK, calls for the use of all legal and constitutional means to counter law entry. In this link you can find the main observations: https://tinyurl.com/5bctfvtu “, said in response.
