Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq met on Wednesday with Jared Kouchner, the son-in-law of former United States President Donald Trump.
Vuciq wrote in his account at the Instagram that it was a <x0mex1> inspiring ideas” and that he showed Kouchner to Belgrade and “explained some of the plans for his even faster” growth.
He added that Kouchner introduced him to a project for a magnificent <x0hotel in Belgrade, which will contribute to our capital becoming the center of this part of the world, which will be positioned on the global map as an inevitable destination and the desirable headquarters for corporations, universities and larger international institutions, but also an inspiration for artists, scientists and, above all, for young people from around the world<1>.
On May 15th, Serbia signed an agreement on revising the former Federal Secretariat complex for National Protection with the company “Affinity Global Development”, which is led by Jared Kouchner.
Thus, Serbia has rented this land for 99 years.
Kouchner's company plans to build a business-bank complex at the site of the former General Staff in Belgrade.
The New York Times reported on March 18th that investment amounts to $500m and that, according to the proposed contract, Serbia's state should receive 22 percent of the profit.
Serbia's Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure in Government Goran Vessic said in May that the investor is under obligation to build a memorial complex dedicated to all victims of NATO bombing.
The General Staff building was bombed at night between April 29th and April 30th and May 7th and 8, 1999.
NATO began shelling the former Yugoslavia on 24 March that year in response to the persecution of Albanians in Kosovo by Serb security forces. /rel
