Today will be the face between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq in Brussels.

Their confronting is taking place for the first time in more than nine months, with a new round of talks on normalising relations.

The Kosovo government has said that the focus of this meeting “will be implementation of the Agreement towards normalisation of the reports, Anex for its implementation and the way ahead of”.

Under the European Union's mediation, Kosovo and Serbia are in negotiations for normalisation of relations from 2011, but many of the dozens of agreements reached remain without implementation.

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said on June 24th that he hopes to make progress in dialogue and that he remembered there is an agreement for normalising relations, which must be implemented on the ground.

He said that “has problems” in implementing agreements reached within dialogue, but stressed the necessity of holding a “summit to know where we are”.

This will be the first meeting between Kurti and Vuciqi under the dialogue for normalisation of relations, following events in Banjskka ʹ the northern part of Kosovo on 24 September last year, when an armed Serb group attacked Kosovo police and killed a policeman.

They discussed implementing the Agreement on normalising relations, reached in February of that year, but disagreed on the way.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said that on Wednesday in Brussels it will go to see what state Kosovo is in the context of dialogue, while it is not very optimistic about reaching any results.

I'll travel to Brussels tomorrow morning. We haven't had a high date in a year. Almost three years since the last meeting. Tomorrow's meeting will be in the function of recapitalising this three-year process, seeing what we are in and what are the ideas of how we should move forward. This is where problems started. The basic agreement made normalisation of reports between Kosovo and Serbia, with de-facto recognition. This is the best solution that hasn't been reached until today”.

The last meeting between them, September 14, 2023, ended without any reconciliation.
