Toby Vogel, European Union foreign policy expert (BE) from the Council of Democratic Policy (DPC) in Brussels, Belgium, through a post on the “X” on Tuesday, has said the dialogue process for normalising Kosovo-Serbia relations under the long-standing EU care serves as the forum for crisis management.
“Dialog has been in poor shape for a long time, serving only as a forum for crisis management produced”, wrote Vogel, commenting on the statement by EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Josep Borrell, who has said Monday that he will not surrender until Kosovo and Serbia reach operational solutions.
Otherwise, European diplomacy chief and special emissary Miroslav Lajcak will host a new round of negotiations between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vucic, in efforts to advance the dialogue process for normalising relations and implementing existing agreements.
The Vogel has named this EU “performance” calling this meeting: “This meeting is an exercise to build an inheritance and allow Lajcak's Borrell to declare that the process continues and produces results. Vucic and Kurti will receive brochures of the EU's Growth Plan and Praises simply performance”.
Kosovo and Serbia allegedly reached an agreement on the road towards normalising relations early last year. But despite the European diplomats' insistence that the agreement is legally binding, they have failed to convince the parties to implement the same.
For this reason, but also because of the explosive potential of tensions in the northern part of Kosovo, after more than 10 months without a high-level meeting under the dialogue process, Kosovo Prime Minister and the Serbian president are expected to meet on Wednesday at the European helm to continue negotiations under the mediation of Lajcak's Borrell.
