As for Thaci, for Wessel, the SPS has argued that the detention of them remains proportional and reasonable, referring to previous findings of the court.
“Special features in this case include: (i) Mr. Thaci; (i) His knowledge of the charges and evidence against him and a possible long prison sentence; (ii) the danger that Mr. Thaci is preventing the procedures of the Special Court; (iv) the risk of conducting, promoting or helping further crimes; (v) The fact that restrictive measures in the release are not enough to ease risks; (vi) the importance and complexity of charges against Mr. Thaci; and (vii) The fact that the trial is under way, demonstrating the reasonable progress of the” procedures, says the decision on continuing detention for Thaci.
