Kosovo's former chief negotiator for talks with Serbia, Edita Tahiri, has suggested that it is time for the US and the EU to reach the final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia through arbitration.
She has estimated that the agreement would be binding and would include obligations for both sides.
In its account in “Facebook”, Tahiri has written that with this agreement Kosovo would implement association, while Serbia would recognise Kosovo.
“It is time for the US and the EU to bring about the final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia through arbitration with a deal that includes mandatory obligations of the two parties: on the one hand, Kosovo implements association on the other side Serbia recognises the state of Kosovo this agreement will determine that on the date of Serbia's entry into the EU on that date Serbia has officially recognised Kosovo and Kosovo has implemented association. Such a deal would be guaranteed by the US, the EU and NATO. There are such models in the history of peace deals between states that have had disagreements. It is time to make such a historic agreement, so that the Western Balkans can finally achieve lasting peace.” wrote Tahiri.
