The German Chancellor made these comments during an interview with the German daily Rheinsche Post.
Scholz defended the change in Germany's position, which was first publicly announced last week.
“We are convinced that this will not lead to an escalation because, as the president of the United States said, it is only the question of the ability to protect a large city like Kharkivi, for example”, he said.
He added that the decision has been made carefully, in consultation with partners.
