Drinking water prices may increase in the coming days. Apart from the steady increase in product prices, around 170 thousand consumers are expected to also face increased water prices supplied by the Regional Water Company “Pristina”.
The demand for increased water prices is due to the high cost of water treatment. KRU spokeswoman “Prishtina”, Arjeta Doctor has confirmed that they have applied for price increase, but that's what remains. It's up to you.
Regulatory Authority for Water Services ( The ARRU) is expected to come up with a decision soon if it approves the KRU requirement “Pristina” for increased drinking water prices.
KRU spokeswoman “Prishtina”, Arjeta doctor said that after increasing the costs of chemicals for water treatment, capital investments and electricity have applied for price increases.
It's not about hiring workers, demanding increases in water tariffs. The demand for growth from us is not only now, almost every year, all because of the high cost of water treatment”, she said.
According to her, about 12,000 consumers have increased within a year.
“The employment of 160 workers is not enough compared to increasing the number of consumers. It's the only company that has sustained stability in the number of workers”, she said.
The demand for growth is also argued on capital investments. According to the doctor, 4 million infrastructure investments were provided for next year.
“Then it's worth emphasising capital investments of 2m euros, and for next year we have 4m euros in infrastructure investments, so growth requirements are made. For 4 years there is no increase in water prices until demand is based on capital investments and high cost raising” the doctor said in response to the Isader.
