He rejected the trilate meeting after going to Brussels, Stano: It was a rule in the past, unfortunately Kurt was ready.

Before completing his mandate at the head of European Union diplomacy, Spaniard Josep Borrell aimed to land at the negotiating table after a long time two Balkan leaders -- Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq. The plan included analyzing what has been achieved in dialogue under his leadership, as well as focusing on the road ahead. The EU made the announcement with confirmations of the two leaders, warning of, initially, separate meetings and finally a trilateral one. The latter failed. Borrell and Vucich left the responsibility to Kurt. But why did Kurty S'e announce a long time of no participation in the trilate meeting?

EU spokesman Peter Stano said they had calculated to Prime Minister Kurti for confirming his participation in these meetings.

“Sic we have warned on Monday (and as was the rules in the past), we have calculated at a trilateral meeting, unfortunately Prime Minister Kurti was not ready for it”, Stano told Express.

However, a day before travelling to Brussels, Prime Minister Albin Kurti at a not-so-long proposal to reporters in Pristina suggested he intended to participate in both forms of EU-appointed meetings.

I will travel to Brussels tomorrow. I have confirmed my participation”, Kurti said.

I believe that, in addition, tomorrow's meeting of both bilatheral and trilate will be in the function of recapsulating this three-year process. Let's see what we're in and what are the ideas of how to get ahead of”.

However, on tomorrow Kurt did not share the same opinion.

He set three requests, or what he called Borrell, conditions he said are the basis for restoring a dialogue in trust and that the “agreement on attack from Serbia” would be protected with them.

Vuciq rejected Kurti's conditions and appeared first before journalists to show that the trilate meeting has failed, accusing Prime Minister Kurti of failing to pass “gux1>.

When he went to the Borrell conference, he also made a recapitalization of the round of meetings he had held with Vucinac's Kurt, complaining at the end that he did not have a trilateral meeting.

“We just completed a summit with President Vuciq and Kurti, both of them. It was the eleventh meeting between the two leaders [and me] that I chaired. Or [to be more precise] with the two leaders [who] I led, not among them, but with them. Because this time there was no trilateral meeting”, Borrell said, until he correctly quoted Kurt's terms.

“Citto: First, formalising the Base Agreement through signing by the respective heads of state and government. That's an old request. Second, the withdrawal of the reserve letter officially deposited in the [European] Foreign Action Service by the former prime minister of Serbia, [Ana] Brnabyq, dated December 13, 2023. We're still talking about things that happened six months ago. And third, the handover of Milan Radojcik and his paramilitary-terrorism group to Kosovo judicial authorities”, Borrell reported on Kurti's terms.

For this exact quote, Kurt later thanked Borrell. He also refused to offer conditions to his three points.

So let's discuss the following sequence, but for implementation it needs respect, it needs to protect the Basic Agreement that I'm sure is done with exactly what we've said today and what I thank Mr. Josep Borrell, who so well listed what we said, clearly quoted them, but we wouldn't have called them conditions, but guarantee of goodwill and trust”.

Kurti even today at the Government meeting announced his cabinet that it was Vuciq who had rejected his demands that constituted “gardi” for the deal.

“to ensure respect for the agreement in the future must be signed, because only the signing guarantees its implementation and to have the withdrawal of Brnabyk's letter and the signing of the agreement by Vuciq. In three bilateral meetings we presented these guarantee requirements that are actually a shield for the basic agreement itself that is under attack from Serbia. Serbia's president was not ready for either, nor to sign an agreement, nor to withdraw the letter for her refusal, but neither to hand over the chief criminal Radojic”.

It is not known whether Kurti and Vuciq will once again face each other under Borrell's mediation, but the outgoing top diplomat took care that prior to the meetings he made clear to the parties that, despite the name that will take his place, the EU's position will not change, nor the Basic Agreement.

Stano did not respond to this newspaper question about the chances of another meeting, but said that would happen to the chief negotiators.

“As far as future planning is concerned, the only thing we can confirm is what the High Representative said Wednesday, that there will be meetings of the chief negotiators next week in Brussels”.
