European Union special envoy Miroslav Lajcak said he is not near the end of his mandate as charged to deal with dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
My “Punion continues” and “will not go anywhere”, he told the “sbonker”, where he showed he is working for the next steps in the dialogue process.
I may not be as close to the end of my mandate as originally thought. So what I can say is that my work continues. I'm not going anywhere soon. I am not yet in the mood to give advice to my successor”, Lajcak said.
He said his successor to this task would come “times eventually”, but added that “The process has not yet started”.
And once the successor is selected, then we will certainly have much to share. But for now, there's only one special EU representative and you're talking to him right now, and the team is here. And, as I said, we are really focused on our work and preparing our next steps”, Lajcak said.
Last Tuesday for Lajcak came to Kosovo on Tuesday, where he announced he would remain in the envoy's position for dialogue by early next year.
Although his regular mandate ends in late August and on September 1st would have to start working as ambassador to Switzerland, he has said he has been asked to hold a little more position and that there is much work to be done until it finally leaves.
The last visit to Pristina -- and later to Belgrade -- he said that “has to do with the way it is focused on the process of normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia, and what concrete steps we will take”.
I don't think it's my last visit to Pristina since I've been asked to continue until the end of January. So there is still a lot of time and work that we need to do”, he said in Pristina, after a meeting he had with Kosovo's deputy prime minister and chief negotiator in dialogue with Serbia, Besnik Bislimi.
