Prime Minister Albin Kurti, on the 25th anniversary of our country's liberation, has remembered the day when tens of thousands of NATO troops began crossing the border and were introduced as troops on Kosovo's territory.

During his speech at the solemn session in Kosovo's Parliament, he said the 1999 12 government was fixed as the day of our country's liberation.

In the constant stream of time, there are special days like today when it is very important to focus on the present to reflect on the road we have been through here. To unite ourselves as we have today come together in the Parliament of our Republic and then in the city squares with citizens to mark a historic event that has brought us the present and established the future. Today is one of those days since it is the day of Kosovo's liberation. June 12th 1999 has been fixed as the day of Kosovo's liberation, because on that day tens of thousands of NATO military troops began crossing the border and deploying as troops on Kosovo's territory. For just hours earlier, unexpectedly and unfaithfully, a contingent of 200 Russian soldiers separated from the SFOR mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina had arrived at midnight in downtown Pristina between June 11th and 12th. Kosovo, and especially the area of Pristina, became the arena of developments that received global attention. Serbian and Yugoslav military forces had not yet withdrawn from Pristina in one part of the city. In the rest, the KLA units, from the Lapp operational zone, had entered the city by raising the Albanian national flag at the “Zenel Hajdini” school and on Bled's road. Further, after they had crossed Pristina, Russian troops were stationed at Pristina airport in Slatina, occupying and blocking it. Meanwhile, thousands of British soldiers were advancing towards Pristina. Facing the parties seemed inevitable. The evental scenarios of that situation were unpredictable and frightening”, Kurti recalled.

The next few dates belong to history and historians, but that's exactly what we've been doing since then. And this is understood by the geopolitical and geostrategic alignment of our countries today. Even then, Serbia now stands behind Russia, as Russia stands behind many of Serbia's actions. While Kosovo, along with Albania, has consistently gone by strengthening its ties and alliance with the US, England, Germany and Turkey, France and Italy and other Western partner countries”.

The head of the government said further that the European Union is our targeted political family, while NATO is military bust.

“The EU is our targeted political family, while NATO is our military deployment. Today we are marking the 25th anniversary of the liberation by staying with our allies as we did on June 12, 1999, and as we did in the early days of liberation. From the beginning of 2023 and until the middle of this year, day after day, we have commemorated the martyrs and warriors of freedom and the glorious KLA battles on their 25 anniversarys. We've described those killed and victims of massacres, reminded the missing by violence, victims of rape, imprisonment, damage and destruction. And we've denounced the war crimes and crimes against humanity, the entic cleansing and the judiciary that Serbia has committed in Kosovo, precisely because we've suffered, now we want all citizens to enjoy and win in Kosovo. The ethnic Albanian minority majority”, Kurti said, Klankosova.tv reports.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Kurti said Kosovo has never been cheaper and more determined to defend our state's freedom and independence at all costs.

Today, with the highest political awareness and clear collective memory, we are remembering June 12, 1999. From that day until today, 25 years have been completed - an era of a quarter of a century in the modern history of Ksovo - a time during which the people of Kosovo have lived in freedom more than in any other historical era. We have never been cheaper and more independent, and we have never been more determined to defend our freedom and independence at all costs, at all costs, by all means, every”, Kurti said.
