Italy's ambassador to Serbia, Luca Gori, said forming the Association of Serb majority municipalities is a condition for Kosovo's admission to the Council of Europe.
In an interview for the Serbian newspaper “Politika”, Gori stressed that on the latest Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the issue was not even put in order by day and that Italy was one of the pro-exaploring countries.
“We believe accession should be linked to substantial progress in forming association. This is one of the conditions that must be met in order for Kosovo's candidacy to be successful”, Gori said.
He has added, among other things, that in addition to this year's 15th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration for Strategic Partnerships, it is also the 145th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Rome and Belgrade.
The “Relations between Italy and Serbia are based on four pillars of dialogue, economic co-operation, stability in the region and Serbia's European perspective. We continue to develop our relationship in all four directions”, Gori said.
We remember that Kosovo did not join the agenda of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers, which was held on May 16th and 17th.
