This time, in an interview recently given, US Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill was asked again about his words of recognition to Kosovo as a condition for Serbia's EU entry. Among other things, he has spoken about the lack of a Kurti-Wuchic meeting.

Speaking on this matter, Hill expressed the following:

We're a little discouraged right now. We really support and continue to support the EU process and the Brussels dialogue. We think this is the right way, actually the only way. I think there's got to be a real effort to make progress, because, you know, it hasn't been going on for months. So, I think we have some problems with that. I'm glad the Serbian side was ready to talk. It's important”.

On the other hand, Hill from “BlitzSerbia's” was asked about its statements on recognising Kosovo from Serbia, and that such a thing may not be a condition for its EU membership.

According to Hill, the EU's goals in the dialogue process are clear the normalisation of relations, which is legally binding.

Well, first, I'm just repeating the European Union's goals for dialogue. The goals are very clear. They want comprehensive normalisation, normalisation that is legally binding. In other words, there can be no normalisation Tuesday, and on Wednesday it won't work. For this reason, legally binding comprehensive normalisation. It's a big assignment. I think it's very difficult to do that, as the events of recent months show. As for the future, let's see what happens. I think general normalization is a prerequisite for everything. I hope we can see it come true. ” he said.

When asked if anything could change, at least for leaders of the two states to sit down and talk, he mentioned the Association of Serb-run municipalities.

I can't predict the future, I can barely understand the past, but I believe what's on the table makes sense. It makes sense to have a municipality of Serbian municipalities. It makes sense to reduce tensions. It really makes sense for Pristina and Belgrade to have a better relationship than now. So, that's the right goal, but of course, dialogue is in a situation to actually look at.
