Government's lack of support, mayors complain to president Osmani

The Council of Speakers within the Kosovo Commission Association has met with Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani on Wednesday. The government's failure to support the fourth grant was some of the complaints mentioned in the first state, reports EO. Also discussed was the role of municipalities in preventing violence [...]
Also discussed was the role of municipalities in preventing gender-based violence, the role of local government in developing tourism in Kosovo, co-operation between the presidency and municipalities in implementing projects and the challenges of municipalities in local governance.
Kosovo Communist Association Chairman Agim Aliu expressed concern over the central level of lack of support. He said their demand continues to be the founding of the fourth grant.
We've raised several issues and made several demands. Our demands for these three years have not been addressed, nor addressed, but we will continue to insist on our demands for a good local government. All of our paperwork and requests require solutions for local government governance. We are strengthening this by seeking co-operation and solutions from the central government on issues that are not in the competence of municipalities, but that need action from the central level”, Aliu said.
Ali criticised Government for lack of co-operation, after complaining that their demands are not being addressed.
The local government in Kosovo has challenges and issues that are out of local government's legal infrastructure. Kosovo municipalities require the founding of the fourth grant to municipalities through the law on local finances because it also helps establish social review grants that directly affect the prevention of domestic and gender-based violence. The concern in this regard is also not regular and inter-institute communication, despite this we express concerns and challenges on some local-level questions”, he has said.
Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani said in the fight against gender-based violence should be united. So she promised her support as the first of the state.
The president said she supports the demand of municipalities for additional budgets to increase security at social work centres.
This meeting I believe is an opportunity to reconfirm our common commitment to improving the lives of citizens. Many problems that are the daily confrontation in municipalities you represent also exceed the administrative boundaries of municipalities because their expansion is broad, the complexity of subjects is much greater and their solution requires the mobilization of all of us. Among these problems we have invited this joint meeting is gender - based violence. Violence on gender bases has unfortunately taken off”.
There were two more murders in recent months. Therefore, we need to have a response not only to emergency but also to co-ordinated because each of us knows that the literal co-ordination of institutions and the functioning of any link where violence victims on gender grounds can seek support is only the solution to eliminating this phenomenon and increasing the effectiveness of the preventive measures”, Osman said, as he said the institution she directs would have the doors open for these concerns.
