This is because, according to Gervalles, Serbia with money from the European Union will buy Russian weapons and support Russian ambitions in Europe.
As for Kosovo, the minister says her people should decide whether to join NATO as well as the EU, not its neighbours.
Kosovo is the smallest country, Europe's newest European democracy somewhere in the Western Balkans, but it is a country where many geopoliticals, show their influence at very important moments as we now have in Europe”, Gervala told Canada CBC.
So, in Kosovo, we aim not only to join the European Union, but to have the newest population in Europe, having the most pro-European and pro-European people - NATO in Europe. I must point out that more than 93 percent of people in Kosovo support NATO membership and the European Union”.
And I truly believe it is in the hands of the people in a country to decide for their future and not for their neighbourhood to decide when this country can join NATO or not”.
“E has the case with Kosovo, Serbia supported by Russia in fighting our ambitions to join the European Union and NATO. And so, I really believe that the European perspective, NATO perspective supports these ambitions of all countries that want”.
“NATO and the European Union must open the doors to those countries aimed at and are struggling for the same values, the same principles as the NATO and EU countries have. I know there should be no room for those countries like Serbia who want to have money from the European Union to buy Russian weapons and support Russian ambitions in Europe. But for all others who are willing to do their homework, it is the final time to move”.
