German MP Philip Kramer of the Parliamentary Group coalition 90/Gelbrit has said Serbia and Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina are dependent on Moscow's money and weapons and are encouraged to be clearer in their threats and provocations against their neighbours. They are encouraged to threaten new wars in the Western Balkans and join the autocratic axis.
These comments, Kramer made in his speech to the German Parliament yesterday, where he was discussing the continuation of Bundeswehri's mandate in KFOR, Kosovo.
“NATO and the EU are carrying out peace-building missions to create a safe environment for a peace process after years of war crimes and deportation. At the same time, autocratic powers are trying to create a springboard in Western Europe and light up the EU neighbourhood. China is opening up in the Western Balkans through its Silk and Road Initiative, often with promises of infrastructure that often go against their recipients and open the door to Chinese influence. Russia is taking a much slower approach. She acts like the protection power of Serbs, like an Orthodox brother, while her army in Ukraine wage a war of annihilation against an Orthodox brother, stealing, murdering, raping and kidnapping children. Serbia and Republika Srpska depend on Moscow's money and weapons and are encouraged to be clearer in their threats and provocations against their neighbours. They are encouraged to threaten new wars in the Western Balkans and join the autocratic axis. All this, ladies and gentlemen, is what makes KFOR important today. All of this, dear soldiers of current and former contingents, have made your service in this central mandate for 25 years now”, the deputy Kramer said before the attendees, reports Klankosova.tv.
He stressed that Bundeswehri, subsequently KFOR, has been carrying out his fundamental mission, which is to prevent renewed war violence and promote a safe environment.
“KFOR is a peacekeeping and stabilisation mission in a conflict-related postwar zone. And this brings us to a central point: the mandate in its form is still important, perhaps more important than it was some time ago. For years but most recently since Ukraine's full - scale Russian invasion, autocrats interested in moving their borders have sniffed out the morning air. That applies to the Western Balkans as well. The Western Balkans was and is a geopolitical entry into Europe. This becomes clear when you see who is involved there and for what reasons”, he added.
Meanwhile, he also had criticism of developments in Kosovo since the post-war, saying that the “evidence that no lasting peace has yet increased in Kosovo, that corruption, organised crime, unemployment and lack of prospects do not continue to spread, is a political failure on all sides, including the EU”.
“is a political necessity to advance here in the coming months, if possible, but at least in the years to come. The fact that no new suffering and massacre, deportation and rape has erupted between states and their population is due to the Bundeswehri soldiers deployed in Kosovo and our partners”, the MP from the Parliamentary Group, said the 90/Gelbrit Alliance in the German Bundestag.
In the end, he asked his MP colleagues to vote for the continuation of the Bundeswehri mission under KFOR in Kosovo.
