EULEX chief: Banjska has witnessed the fragility of the north

“Banjska has proven the fragility and vulnerability of this area. Hence, this area requires special attention. We are alert to prevent any possible return to violence”.
On 24 September last year, an armed group of Serbs attacked the Kosovo Police in Banjska, killing Sergeant Africa Bulnjak.
Three attackers have been killed in exchange for the fire.
Kosovo considers Serbia responsible for organising and conducting the attack, but Belgrade denies everything.
Chief EULEX has called on Serbia to do its best to prevent repetition of any situation like that in Banjska.
We expect Serbia to exercise its power to hold responsible those who have carried out the” attack, he told the KP.
The responsibility for the attack on Banjska has been taken by former Serbian List Vice President Milan Radojic.
Although an international warrant has been issued against him, he is on the run in Serbia.
Chief EULEX has said that the mission leading has increased the alert level to prevent the repetition of any crisis and that Kosovo has reinforced its presence and capabilities along the border.
“If something happens again, then it would mean that probably, institutions in Serbia have failed to prevent a<x1 attack.
Kosovo police are the first security responsible for Kosovo, EULEX second, while mission NATO in Kosovo, KFOR, third.
Barbano has called for Kosovo and Serbia to engage in dialogue and resolve all issues through that channel.
Serbia does not recognise Kosovo's independence and is constantly engaged in lobbying campaigns against Kosovo.
The two countries dialogue in Brussels on normalising relations since 2011.
The sides have signed a host of agreements, but not all have been implemented.
