Kosovo's top diplomat, Donika Grovalla, has travelled to Croatia to attend the Dubrovnik Forum at the invitation of her counterpart, Gordan Grlic-Radman. The drill had participated in this forum for years, where it had prompted numerous reactions with the statement referring to the European Union as “Tiger of paper”.
The announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Gervall will present the positions of the Republic of Kosovo about the challenges of peace and stability in Europe “and share the experience of the Republic of Kosovo with Euro-Atlantic integration processes and deep reforms in the rule of law, the establishment of standards of democracy and economic development”.
In margins of this Forum, Gervala will also hold bilateral meetings with the foreign ministers of participating countries.
The drill had participated in this forum for years, where it prompted numerous reactions with the statement referring to the European Union as “Tiger of paper”, a term referring to something or someone who claims to be powerful or threatening, which is actually inefficient and unable to meet the challenge.
The key question for security in the Western Balkans is whether and whether the European Union can guarantee security and peace in Europe? My assessment is that the EU cannot. Because he is unable and unable to provide security. The reasons are obvious: there is no political will, there is a lot of disagreement in the union and without the US and NATO, the EU is a letter tiger in terms of security”, Gervala had said.
The expression became known as the slogan used by Mao Ce Duni, former head of the Chinese Communist Party and leading leader of China, against his political opponents, especially the United States.
As a response to Gervala's statement, the EU's Emisari for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, had said the European Union is a dream for Western Balkan states.
I can say that the EU is far from perfect, but all of this is the best we have. It's the most successful union of countries. There is no other community of states on this planet that has brought greater political stability, economic prosperity, and respect for human rights ... I think EU membership is the achievement of the countries' dreams, which are knocking on the European dream”, Lajcak had said.
The drill had also been countered by former United States Minister for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar, who had said that everything positive that happened in the last generation has been due to American-European co-operation.
The Dubrovnik Forum is an annual conference gathering ministers and senior political figures from different countries in the world to discuss current issues in the global political agenda.
