Early Monday morning at the Baden AG District Court has launched trial proceedings against a 49-year-old for murder. He is accused of killing his 41-year-old wife in Bergdiethon in 2022. It's about the murder of renowned economist, university professor Eagle Isufi, the murder her husband, Africa T., committed in Swiss citizenship from Macedonia.
The murder had shaken the Albanian community and sparked debate on childicide as well as the patriarchal approach that Albanian society still has towards such crime.
Regarding the murder and circumstances, especially sociopsycological ones dealing with the Albanian environment have recently written most media in Switzerland. Some of them are following the judicial process directly, minutes after minute.
According to the indictment, crime occurred on Sunday night, September 25, 2022. Eagle and her husband went to bed about 0100. Two hours later, the husband woke up in an empty bed and Eagle had gone to the bathroom to take a shower. Her cell phone was over the sink and the defendant had taken it. There, according to the indictment, he had found intimate photos of her and another man, wrote brick.ch.
From that moment on, the situation escalated: The woman asked her husband for her cell phone. In the following fight, both had fallen into the bathtub, which was partly filled with water. The eagle in this condition fought for life but to no avail. Her husband must have pushed her under the water several times, thus choking her until she stopped moving.
After her death, he had tried to make the crime appear like suicide, the indictment continues. He threw a hair dryer in the bathtub, locked the door from the outside and pushed the key under the door. For emergency services, which had arrived a little later, her death actually seemed like suicide, but after forensic investigations it was clear that there would have been outside actions. The day after the body was found, the man had been arrested and admitted to being responsible for his wife's death.
Africa T. and Eagle is taught that they were recognized in 2003, says the text of the indictment, published early in the year.
By the spring of 2022, the defendant is said to have become increasingly jealous and allegedly involved in another man. Eagle has always denied this and is taught that he has asked the accused to stop reading her messages one day before the crime. It is learned that she has also announced that she wanted to look for another residence, for herself.
According to statements by the first witness on the first day of judgment, there was a marriage crisis for some time. The later victim is said to have told the witness a person she knew her husband had betrayed. That's why they have bedrooms separated for years.
According to the witness, the woman no longer wanted to contact her husband. He was extremely jealous, telephoned his wife's whereabouts and watched his cell phone. She didn't know the whole house was monitored by video cameras.
The Witness knew nothing of an affair and could not imagine it, writes “Blic”. Another witness said Monday that the victim had been in contact with a man, but he did not know exactly what had happened.
However, the victim's brother seems to know his sister better. He said he had problems with the character given even before the crime. He told the murdered sister: “She was a star for us. An optimist”. Statements from the victim's family also revealed that the accused father had been removed from custody of the boys and that they were now in a good place.
Asked by the defendant's defense attorney, the legal doctor says that neither in the victim nor in the defendant has evidence of alcohol or drugs been found. The doctor says that crime may have lasted for a few minutes.
We should assume that she was still conscious at first”, she explains. The injuries also indicate that she was being protected.
In the indictment, the public prosecutor is convinced that the wife “suffered an extremely painful and tormenting death”.
The forensic expert talks mainly about bruises and bruises in several locations in the victim's body, which he has found. It also mentions the signs of drowning and the <x0 violence highlighted”. The cause of death is ultimately asphyxia.
Evidence has also been found in the accused, such as a scratch on the skin that may have come from nails.
No final conclusion was reached at the time on the cause of death in the country. After the autopsy, however, it was found that traces found “do not match suicide”.
And no evidence of electrical shock was found in the body. According to the indictment, the accused had thrown a hair dryer into his wife's bathtub, which was partly filled with water, to insist on suicide.
On the second day of trial a lawyer was interviewed. He was asked by the defendant on September 8, 2022. Then, at the request of the accused, he has drafted an inheritance and marriage contract for the couple, broadcast albinfo.ch. He swam this on September 22, 2022, three days before his wife died.
Interestingly, in the case of suicide, the accused would have received at least 1.8 million francs through an inheritance contract and other care regulations. But, as the lawyer says, this was absolutely normal work for him. He had not noticed anything he could tell about the crime.
The charge says: If his wife had died, the accused would have financial prospects of at least 1.8 million francs.
The court has just closed the second day of trial. The trial continues tomorrow, Wednesday, at 8:30, then the defendant will be questioned for the first time.
The trial is expected to last several days. The court, which is gathering at the Mobile Police building at the AG scene, plans to announce its decision this week.
