Borrell: Talks show constructiveity and enable the dialogue process to move forward

The bilateral meetings in Brussels on Wednesday ended without trilateral meetings, as warned. Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti set three conditions. Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq insisted again on the hot spot, the Association. And European Union diplomacy chief Josep Borrell called for parallel implementation, Kosovo to launch the process towards Association, until Serbia starts [...]

Borrell said on Wednesday that Kosovo was not ready for trilateral meetings and that during bilateral meetings, he presented three conditions for further commitment in the process of normalising reports with Serbia.

“As usual, discussions were difficult and there was no trilateral meeting at the end. Kosovo was not ready for such a meeting, Serbia wasUnfortunately, the implementation conditioning did not allow the discussions to focus on concrete action of implementation by the” parties. He said Borrell.

“Now it is up to the parties to show constructiveity and allow the process to move forward. This is in their interest and is in the interest of their aspirations for European integration”Borrell said.

Borrell also confirmed that Lajcak will host Kosovo and Serbia's top negotiators at the meeting next week to continue discussions on the Agreement's implementation plan, but other issues of dialogue.

Kurti's three conditions are the establishment of the Base Agreement through the signing of respective heads of state, the withdrawal of official letter delivered to the EU by former Serbian Prime Minister Anna Brnabiq, on December 13th 2023, as well as the handover of Milan Radojic and his terrorist paramilitary group to Kosovo authorities.

The last trilateral meeting between Kurti and Vuciqi with European mediators was held in September last year, ahead of Banjska.
