The decision was signed by President Joe Biden, while the reasoning of continuing this move -- which for the first time was taken on June 26th of 2001 -- is based on “the actions of extremist violence” and <x2-activities preventing”, as these actions reportedly pose a danger to US national security and foreign policy.

The acts of extremist violence and stumbling activity, as well as the situation in the Western Balkans, which prevents progress towards effective and democratic governance and full integration into transatlantic institutions, described in these Executive Orders, continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to national security and foreign policy in the United States. Therefore, I have decided that it is necessary to continue the national emergency declared at Executive Order 13219 concerning the Western Balkans”, said the decision signed by President Biden.
In line with this provision, President Beden said he has sent the Federal Record for publishing the announcement that <x0 national emergency regarding the Western Balkans, proclaimed at the Executive Order of June 26, 2001, under which additional steps have been taken in the next Executive Order of May 28, 2003, and which expanded into action in the Executive Order of June 8, 2021, will continue to remain in force beyond 26 June 2024<11.
