Population has declined 16 percent since 2011. In 2001-2011 the population dropped by 8 percent.
This provision estimated on Albanian territory on September 18th 2023, 2,402,113 people, who make up 755,950 households, with an average of 3.2 family members living at 1,082,529 common residences. Today, we have the pleasure of introducing in detail information related to this process, indicating at the same time, that this breach has achieved its goal, justified long-term investments, financial support, the need of users”, said Elsa Dhuli, director of the Statistics Institute.
Four percent of Albania's population have claimed to be atheists, while 10 percent of those questioned have not preferred to declare their faith.
Meanwhile, of those who have been declared, 1.1 million are Sunni Muslims; 116 thousand Bektasin Muslims; 202 thousand are Catholic; 174 thousand Orthodox; 9 700 gospels; and 3,400 have declared other beliefs.
