Students' parents at several elementary schools in Skopje have been informed by the teaching staff of an increased tendency to physical self - injury among children. According to reports, an increase in incidents where students have self-damaged use razors, sharpening knives, scissors, and other sharp items, especially on hands and feet, were reported.
The textbook has called for greater control and attention of children from parents. It has been requested by parents to report every change in child behavior and to allow unannounced inspections in schools to address and prevent this disturbing phenomenon.
One of the causes of this phenomenon may be the impact of dangerous social platform challenges, as is the case with the challenge of TikTok, where 17 students from Kosovo are reported to have suffered self - injury. The challenge known as “Balene Blue” has been especially dangerous, resulting in worldwide tragic cases.
Local psychotherapists, such as Fikli Gaspar, stress the importance of quick reaction from parents and the search for professional assistance if they observe specific changes in their children's behavior. Gaspar also added that checking the content children see on social networks is vital to prevent such incidents.
This phenomenon requires special attention and a coordinated response from parents, educational institutions, and experts to protect the well - being of young people.
