At least 33 people died in the northern state, Utar Pradesh, authorities said there.
Among the victims, according to them, are people engaged in general elections, including officials and security guards.
In the state of Odysha, meanwhile, at least 20 people were killed.
The federal Health Ministry said it has recorded at least 56 deaths as a result of the Nite from March 1st to May 30th.
India, every five years, holds its general elections in April and May.
This year, however, temperatures were record - records of over 45 degrees Fahrenheit [45 ° C] and, in some areas, 50 degrees Fahrenheit [50 ° C].
India's Weather Department said temperatures will likely drop in the coming days because of the onset of monsun rains.
Some regions are also experiencing severe water shortages and electricity due to increased consumption during the heat.
