The state news agency IRNA stressed that on board the helicopter were also Ayatolah Mohammad Ali Al-Hashem, the imam for the forgiveness of the jungle in the town of Tabriz, and General Malek Rahmati, governor of the Iranian province of eastern Azerbaijan.

Also dead during the accident, the commander who secured for the defense of President Sardar Seyed Mehdi Mousavi, as well as a number of bodyguards and helicopter crew, whose names have not yet been disclosed.

Rescue teams, assisted by several foreign governments, made great efforts to locate the helicopter, which collapsed as a result of the bad atmosphere on May 19th.
