UNMIK chief Caroline Ziadeh has called for unilateral steps to be averted in terms of opening the Ibër Bridge for cars.
She said this issue should be resolved in dialogue.
“P The SSP Ziadeh reiterates that unilateral actions that could increase tensions endanger stability and undermine confidence among communities should be avoided. Unsolved issues, including. Plans to reopen Mitrovica's Ibër bridge for vehicles, which will be resolved through EU facilitated dialogue”, she has said.
In the Government of Kosovo's agenda as far north as Kosovo seems to be the opening of the Ibër Bridge to drive cars. This warning has come from the number two Kosovo Police, Veton Elshani, and VV Asmblists in the northern Mitrovica municipality led by VV's Erden Attic.
The European Union has reacted by saying that the decision to open the Ibër Bridge should be taken within the EU's relaxed dialogue in Brussels. KFOR has repeated the same stance today.
