For the measures, in line with its December 12th 2023 conclusions, the Council will discuss EU measures on the basis of a report by the High Representative on meeting EU requirements”, Stano has told Gazeta Express.
Satno has also spoken of recent elections in the north that were held to oust Albanian mayors. He has stressed that Kosovo has enabled holding new local elections through voting for the return of mayors, until he says organising the vote has had some challenges, such as establishing security cameras.
It also says that the decision by political parties representing Kosovo Serbs to withdraw from the process and call for boycott have led to a series of difficulties, including the establishment of commissions at polling stations without any Kosovo Serb members.
Stano has also cited the decision by Serbian school directors in the north not to allow the use of school facilities for voting.
This has created serious challenges for the Central Election Commission. This also prevented citizens from accessing accurate information about new locations of”, Stano said.
Stano has said the EU regrets that Kosovo Serbs in the north have wasted an opportunity to exercise their right to vote and elect leaders “who would truly be representative”.
According to the EU spokesman, the result does not contribute to lowering tensions and paving the way for Serbs to return to institutions, which says it is essential for normalising the reports.
Stano has also spoken at a media conference this week, when he is asked about the demands of Kosovo institutions' directors that they be removed. He has said the measures will be removed only when European Union member states are established, rather than Kosovo politicians.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti and other Kosovo officials have consistently called for the removal of measures, saying Kosovo has met the conditions.
