The European Union continues to hold sanctions against Kosovo, even though Kosovo, according to the Government, has met all conditions required by the European Union. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kressnik Ahmeti, for Radio Kosovo, has said there are signals that sanctions measures towards Kosovo could be removed.
We're waiting, because all that's been on our side to do is already done. We have organised the vote in northern municipalities so elections can be called. Kosovo must not take this move from the European Union, as such punitive measures must be established an aggressor country such as Serbia”, Ahmeti has declared.
For connoisseurs of international relations, measures imposed by the EU have been wrong and as such need to be removed as soon as possible. Scholar and researcher Abbit Hoxha, for Radio Kosovo, has said the EU must remove those measures, though it estimates that between Kosovo and the European Union is lacking in real communication.
“Communification with the EU in Kosovo has escalated for the worse. I think there is some kind of misunderstanding on the part of the Government of Kosovo, then even from the EU, for this official communication being made. Kosovo should have a better diplomacy, so it should be more diplomatic with the European Union”, Hoxha stressed.
Analyst Shqirim Pula said that the deployment of EU sanctions on Kosovo is a violation of the extent of Kosovo's full sovereignty.
The continuation of those measures on Kosovo is not only unfair, but also a violation of the claim of an extension of sovereignty in the entire territory of the Republic of Kosovo. Therefore, a day and earlier those measures should be removed on the part of the European Union”, Pula stressed for Radio Kosovo.
EU spokesman Peter Stano has stated on Thursday that holding votes in municipalities in northern Kosovo was one of several conditions, but the decision on lifting the measures requires a broad consensus in the EU.
