The Serbian list rejects the idea of opening Ibër Bridge: The goal is destabilizing the situation

The deputy director of police in the north, Veton Elshani, has warned of the opening of the Ibër Bridge separating the northern and southern part of Mitrovica.

To this statement, the Serbian List has reacted, saying this is unnecessary and unacceptable “movement”.

LS says the target “is destabilising the” situation, reports portal “Kosev”.

“Remember that the current situation is part of the agreement reached in Brussels between Belgrade and Pristina. At the same time, we stress that traffic is currently flowing normally from the southern part of the city in four directions, over three bridges and a local route, and there is no need for the” bridge, they say from the Serbian List.

They called on KFOR, EULEX and representatives of Brussels “to react and prevent another crisis from occurring”.

“Call for Kfor, EULEX, but representatives of Brussels also prevent Kurti from causing another crisis and hindering his plan to expel Serbs from Kosovo. We call on you to respond urgently and to show the regime in Pristina that the opening of the bridge cannot be done without the consent of Serbs living in northern Kosovo, especially in Mitrovica, Kosovo, for this reason, by a few thousand Serbs, only one priest lives in southern Mitrovica with his family under continued police observation”, they have said from the Serbian List.

The European Union has also reacted in terms of the bridge's opening warning on the Iber River. EU Office spokeswoman in Kosovo Ioanna Lachana told the Albanian Post that any decision concerning the bridge over the Iber River should be taken after negotiations on the dialogue mediated by the European bloc.
