UN Secretary General's spokesman: Genocide in Srebrenica is a legally established fact

Dujarric informed the public of numerous topics dealing with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, and in the conference's part of the journalists' questions also discussed the resolution on genocide at Srebrenica.

When asked directly what Guterres thinks of the resolution, Dujaric clearly replied that for the UN, the genocide in Srebrenica is a fact tried by the tribunal.

“Member States will adopt resolutions on various topics and vote them as needed. As for this particular issue, the fact that there has been genocide in Bosnia is legally recognised. And we're always talking here, if you're asking yourself about genocide in different countries, if he's recognised by the tribunal, it's a fact, as far as we're concerned, that's why those facts haven't changed for us”, Dujaric said.

In the second question whether the adoption of a resolution on the Srebrenica genocide is a good idea, the answer was in another tone.

I didn't say it was a good idea and I didn't say it was a bad idea. I said member states would do what to do with their wisdom. I expressed our attitude, you can compare, compare and analyse”, the UN Secretary General's spokesman explained. - Whoa.

For memory, the resolution for genocide in Srebrenica must be ahead of the UN General Assembly in mid-May, though the exact date is not yet known. The authors of the resolution are Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany and Rwanda, and the co-ponsors are Slovenia, the United States of America, Italy, France, Chile, Liechtenstein, New Zealand, Vanuatu and Turkey.
