Kosovo's Sadik Durak family, detained in Serbia since 17 April, say they have no information about what's going on with him, while the lawyer says his detention measure is “out of”.
Duraku, who has British citizenship, was arrested last month at a border crossing between Croatia and Serbia, under suspicion of war crimes “” in 1999 charges dropped by family members.
Kosovo's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspore confirmed at the time for Radio Free Europe that it has been declared the 30-day detention measure.
REL asked The MPJD, if it has information on his case now that this deadline is over, it didn't answer.
Sadik Durak's brother, Avdyl Duraku, says it's “concerned” for his fate.
I don't know how to operate from Kosovo... His lawyer, now three weeks, tells us this week the hearing is held, this week... My brother is being unjustly held in Serbian prisons”, Duraku says of the REL.
They also say that his condition is not good because he suffers from heart problems.
Sadik Duraku's lawyer, Goran Petronijevic, says his client is “extending the detention deadline”, but does not specify when.
“Now decided whether to continue detention of 30 days or to be changed by any other measure”, he tells Radio Free Europe.
According to Petronijevic, the detention measure is designated because, as it is said, the risk of escape, because it is about foreign citizens, but also “public concern”, since the media reported the case.
The charge of “public concern” was dropped in his appeal.
Petronijevic says the most appropriate measure would be house arrest or release on the obligation to stay in Serbia until the case is resolved.
Despite REL's insistence, he does not give any date when the Durak session can be held.
Family members say the charges against Durak do not remain because he lived with his family in England before the war in 1999.
Petronijevic also says he believes Duraku is not a wanted person for war crimes.
Great Britain Embassy in Belgrade confirmed earlier on The REL is informed of Sadik Durak's case.
