Europe must prepare for the high risk of a flu pandemic, a World Health Organisation chief (OBSH) said today tremendously.
Dr Maria Van Kerkovo, the UN agency's task director for preparedness to pandemic, said it was a certainty that the continent would face the threat of flu.
Speaking in a WHO podcast, she argued that Coddy wouldn't be the last range we'll deal with in our lives.
Instead, an unknown threat to the future could be unprecedented.
But the respected epidemiologist also acknowledged that the Coronavirus should not be as bad as he was.
She said about Health in Europe: “for me, the flu is a certainty because it's very in circulation. It has been infected by many different species.
“We have bird flu and opportunities for reunification [genetic changes in a virus that allow it to jump among species], possibilities for a flu virus pandemic are high.
This is why we have an entire system in the country to prepare for this. The challenge is, will we see another coronary pandemic?
The “given that SARS-CoV-2 caused a pandemic, certainly, this is an opportunity. The question is, will we see an Arbovirus pandemic? )
Arbovirus, also known as atropod - born viruses, refer to the widespread infections in humans by stinging insects, such as mosquitoes and ticks.
She added: “
So we should think outside the box. Really prepare for known threats, but also think outside the box for something different, maybe by water or not.
So, for me, pandemics, unfortunately, are part of what we're going to face during our lifetime”.
I don't believe this will be the last pandemic we'll face in our lives”
For decades, leading scientists have warned that bird flu is the most likely contender to cause future pandemic.
Experts say it is due to the threat of recombinance, when two viruses unite to create a hybrid.
High natural flu levels increase the risk that someone has both at the same time, which can cause such a situation.
Others have long speculated about Xʹa disease that represents a hypothetical pathogen, currently unknown, would generally result from zoonotic transmission, an animal virus, or a bacteria passing on to humans.
