His plea concerning guilt, accused Mehmet did so after the charges were filed with the consent of the parties, as the same had been read at the previous session of the initial review.
Otherwise, at the previous hearing of the initial review, it was interrupted after the request of accused Mehmeti and his lawyer, Imer Beka, to analyse the circumstances once again.
In the 24 charges handed down by the Constitutional Prosecutor in Pristina, defendant Mehmeti is charged with carrying out criminal acts “falsification of the official document” by Article 427, paragraph 1 and “bribery” by Article 421, paragraph 1 of the Penal Code.
According to the indictment, he is accused of having registered and supplied ID documents to persons who have failed to meet the criteria for handling them.
Mehmeti in the quality of the Civil State official is accused of continuing to abuse his official duty, had introduced different persons into the system, initially registering them as minors and then changed and recorded as major persons.
In the indictment, the actions of defendant Mehmeti have reportedly occurred in opposition to the Interior Ministry minister's decision (MPB) in 2020. This decision stipulated that officials in the municipality branch had no right to register persons over the age of 18 for the first time, for which other officials were authorized.
Even according to the indictment, the MPB's decision determined that no one could receive the certificate without being present, having a document with photos or two witnesses. According to the indictments, most of these, over 100 cases, have not figured at all in the Amese book, and for some, there are video recordings in this book.
The indictment also states that in addition to the turn of the birth year, in some cases he is accused of enabling certain persons to change and steal their identity, recording them with names and other information.
