Ukraine has been facing fierce fighting in Harkiv since May 10th, when thousands of Russian troops launched the offensive, making the biggest advance in 18 months.
“The U.S. announces today a new package of weapons and equipment for Ukraine to support the Ukrainian people, while they defend their state”, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said.
This package, worth $275 million, is part of our attempt to help Ukraine repel Russia's attack near Harkive. The package contains the urgent” Ukraine needs, the US top diplomat said.
Last month, American lawmakers approved Ukraine's $11 billion aid package, since for several months the package was stuck in Congress. Ukrainian forces have suffered defeat on battlefields due to lack of ammunition.
