White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan spoke with Israeli counterpart Tzachi Hanegbi on Sunday about concerns over a possible offensive to Rafah.
They agreed to organise a personal meeting of US and Israeli officials soon to discuss Rafah and other issues.
“Sullivan reiterated President Biden's past concerns about the potential for a major military ground operation at Rafah”, the White House said.
He and Hangebin discussed alternatives to an invasion of the city “to ensure Hamas' loss anywhere in Gaza”.
“Z. Hannegbi confirmed that Israel is taking into account US concerns”, a White House statement said, reports CNN.
