The Kosovo Central Bank's transition period over the dinar issue has ended Saturday. But, Serbian-language medium “Kossev” from the north, reports that the dinar is still used for payment there. According to this report, police have not received orders to fine those who use their currency for payment other than the euro.
Now and so many days it has been reported that today it is expected to be the new Kosovo-Serbia meeting, while the EU expects it to be the last. However, on Sunday there have been reports from neither side if negotiators have travelled to Brussels.
The Dynair Still in circulation
However, the dinar is still in circulation in northern Kosovo. As Kossev reports, in the northern part of Kosovo's Mitrovica it is possible to use this currency in food stores and other items.
Northern region police have not received fine orders
The northern Kosovo police and police have received no orders.
Deputy Commander of PK for the northern region, Veton Elshani, says they have not received any instructions so far.
It explains that, in the case of implementing decisions, it is necessary for the Kosovo government to announce the central directorate of the Kosovo Police, which then issues orders for the regions, in this case the northern region.
We have not received any “directives until now, Elshani said.
Kossev writes that the issue of implementing the Central Bank of Kosovo's Central Bank, or its impact on the Serb community in Kosovo, which largely depends on revenues from Serbia, became part of the dialogue in Brussels, though Pristina rejected it. Both sides have held six meetings in the past period.
All of this ended in the same way on mutual charges, without concrete solutions, as the European Union in two cases came up with its proposals for resolving the Serbian community's financing.
The new meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, and as EU spokesman Peter Stano has confirmed, the European Union expects this meeting in Brussels on the dinar issue to be the last.
In the transition period, an information campaign was implemented for implementation of the BEC regulation.
On 1 February, a Kosovo Central Bank regulation that envisions only euro currency being used for payment has entered into force in Kosovo, ending the use of the Serbian dinar.
