The group of frauds functioned through personal meetings but also phone calls with elderly people asking for money, claiming that close family members had had an automobile accident and payment was needed to perform surgical intervention.
Greek police suggest that in a case taken on 18 May, 48-year-old from Albania has received 100,000 euros and 10 gold coins from an elderly citizen. As of May 9th, it has proved to have received 2,050 euros and jewelry worth 30,000 euros from another elderly lady.
The total value taken by fraud under Greek police accounts for 140,000 euros. /euronews. al
