Kurti silents after failure in Kosovo's KiE membership

Prime Minister Albin Kurti did not speak a word personally in public, as his government said he was making the last attempt to unblock its membership in the CoE, warning of drafting a draft status post. At the line of streets, Donica Gervala left his deputy, while attending a regional meeting in [...]

That condition came from France, Germany and Italy, which called for concrete and urgent steps for implementation of the Association Point based on emissary draft status Miroslav Lajcak.

Instead, by the Government of Kosovo, chief diplomat Donika Grovalla chose that one day before this meeting to begin a letter to the president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on the pledge that she would prepare a draft for the creation of a <x0medocism for self-defence, co-ordination and co-operation of Serb-communist municipalities”.

For the offer, Kurti s'u publicly declared. However, the effort failed.

After the ministers' meeting did not take into account Kosovo's membership, Minister Grovall was again the one who gave the Government's response to the event, complaining that instead of “sending a powerful message on human rights, democracy and rule of law in the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Council of Europe”, some countries sided with Serbia.

“Instead of the opinion of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and a reasonable and serious proposal by the Government of Kosovo, some member states chose to come up with injustice and give support to Serbia's lobby campaign against Kosovo membership, thus robbing citizens of the Republic of Kosovo of Kosovo of the rights and opportunities that provide the mechanisms of this organisation, especially for ethnic minority communities and other marginalised communities”, she wrote.

Meanwhile, for the proposal made on May 16th, Gervala said “vetiu” lost its effect.

“Since a late, informal and arbitrary precondition was imposed on the country, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo made a proposal yesterday (through a landmark offer in a communications through a reasonable letter to the KiE) for overcoming the blockade that this last precondition had created. Although our offer, consulted by partners of member states, in exchange for a positive decision today in the Ministers' Committee offered a broad platform of joint work, that offer was not taken into account. As a result, that letter of offer lost itself currentity and survey after today's meeting of the Committee of Ministers”.

Regarding the failure in Strasbourg, Vjosa Osmani, who expressed optimism that Kosovo's membership is a done deal but that it is only a matter of time.

The Kosovo Republic will be the 47th member of the Council of Europe. It's just a matter of time. On this road, we will not violate the values that constitute the foundation of our country. Once we are there, we will continue to stand for the pillars that the Council of Europe defines: human rights, democracy and the rule of law. We will not serve as Russia's protracted hand or as a model of autocratic behavior. We are grateful to all the countries that have supported us so far. Together, we will work to make this human rights victory more real than late”.

But Kurt's been talking about failure on Saturday.

According to a report by his office, Kurti has discussed the issue with the British ambassador to Pristina.

He has expressed gratitude to the United Kingdom for the pro-dedicated position of membership at a meeting with this state's ambassador, Jonathan Hargreaves, in his office.

The resolution of yesterday's meeting at the Council of Europe, bilateral and regional issues, as well as joint projects, were subject to discussion. The prime minister thanked the United Kingdom for the position held yesterday during the meeting of the Committee of Ministers in support of Kosovo's membership at the Council of Europe”, KKM's announcement said.

Kurti did not speak, however, some figures from his party were tough in statements to what happened in Strasbourg.

Stronger positions came from VV officials and its deputies.

Self-Dejona Mihali, a member of the Self-Dejona Further Council, said it was the will of the people of Kosovo that “Zajednica” not open the door through the Council of Europe.

“Zajednica won't get in through any door. The less it relates to the Council of Europe. Whatever lobbying Serbia does. That door is closed. And he'll stay that way. Because that's what he wanted and wants the people of Kosovo”

Meanwhile, MP Dimal Basha said yesterday's decision by the Committee of Ministers was “black mark on Europe”.

“Europe must be ashamed to leave Kosovo outside the Council of Europe, after meeting all criteria! How can the EU preach us human justice and justice when they discriminate and deprive a country of access to justice, respectively, at the EU Court of Human Rights!”.

Basha's brother was not alone with the Council of Europe. He made Albanian top diplomat Igli Hasani, who in his speech cited Kosovo's request. Basha did like Albania's recommendation for Kosovo to listen to allied countries and fulfil its pledges.

“Hypocrite! Kosovo has found more support in states like Britain than Albania! When you listen to Igli Hasani talking to the Council of Europe, that you know whether anyone is speaking to the foreign minister of Bellarusis, or that of Albania! We're fine.

Vetevendosje spokesman Arlind Manjuka also considered the event unjust in Strasbourg. While the criticism he had for the opposition <x0 sound>” that the problem with association was inherited from them.

A unfair decision was made against Kosovo today, not just the Government. As Minister Gervala said, we have not left stone unmoved, always within the constitutionality of legitimacy, for the interest of Kosovo. Our proposals for overcoming this deadlock, as the prime minister has said, are within three pillars - within current conditions and laws. And Serbia wants something beyond them. She's looking for 2013 and 2015, not 2022 or 2024. In the meantime, these people today are the last ones to be able to offer solutions, since they themselves are part of the problem followed by 2013”.
