Italian Ambassador: Gervailla's letter, invalid

Italy considers the pledge to create the draft statute for the Association of Serb-run municipalities proposed at the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly Thursday by Foreign Affairs Minister Donika Grovalla.

So suggests in an interview for KosovaPress Italy's ambassador to Kosovo, Antonello De Riu, what suggests that the letter with which the intention to submit a new draft statute cannot be taken seriously if it does not share with all interested parties. In addition, De Riu says the Constitutional Court must submit draft the Association statute proposed by the European Union.

Among other things, the Italian ambassador says that despite Kosovo currently losing its current moment for membership in the KiE, there are still other opportunities to recover this journey.

Asked whether it should definitely send the Kosovo Government to the Constitutional Court to enable the country's membership in international organisations, he said the draft proposed by the EU should be taken into account by Kosovo. In addition, De Riu says sending the draft statute proposal for association from Gervailla is not of great importance under current circumstances.

Why the Council of Europe did not put Kosovo on a agenda warned for membership on May 17th, De Riu says it is something restored and that there are still other opportunities to move forward on this road.

We remember that on Thursday, diplomacy chief Donika Grovalla had sent a letter to the president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Theodoros Rousopoulos, in which she has said the Kosovo government is preparing a draft for the establishment of a mechanism for isolation, co-ordination and co-operation of majority Serb municipalities in Kosovo. Meanwhile, after the letter sent by the Kosovo Government to the Council of Europe, to pave the way for Pristina's membership in the KiE in a joint letter, in addition to Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Mellon, even German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and France's President Emmanuel Macron address Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurt with a firm answer telling him that no demands would be accepted unless there is association. / KP
