US Ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey Hovenier has delivered clear messages regarding Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe, Association, the dinar, and the latest shares in the north.
According to Houvenier, the latest action in the north does not contribute to stability.
He stressed that America recognises the government's responsibility for extending sovereignty, but they are just demanding that they work and co-ordinate together.
“We raised our concerns. But the result of this operation that the government followed came up with and did this police action in a way that we thought was not co-ordinated and questioned Kosovo's commitment to resolving some issues in dialogue HINA resulted in public statements from the United States, from the European Union, individual EU member states, the mission. NATO, the OSCE mission, the others all said the same thing: this is not good for Kosovo”, the US ambassador to RTK said.
Hovenier said their specific request is only for the draft Association to be sent to the Constitutional Court.
He praised as urgently for Kosovo's draft Association to be forwarded to the Constitutional.
The “The United States has repeatedly said it publicly for a very long time and in various administrations. Our European partners have said it publicly for a very long time. Kosovo took the pledge to establish the Association of Serb majority municipalities. It is done in a relaxed dialogue by the EU. We strongly believe that all of the obligations of Kosovo and Serbia in dialogue are binding, and that is one of them. And yes, as we expect Serbia to fulfil all its obligations under dialogue, we expect Kosovo to fulfill all its obligations. And in our view, for Kosovo this urgently includes moving forward with Association, sending the draft status to the Constitutional Court for constitutional evaluation”, he said.
