German MP Frank Schwabe, who is also the leader of the group of Socialists, Democrats and Greens (SOC) in the Council of Europe, has criticised his outgoing government that introduced Kosovo's application for membership to this organisation at today's meeting of the Committee of Ministers.
He said the Committee of Ministers owes the Parliamentary Assembly an explanation after the recommendation, with more than 80 per cent it made to make Kosovo a member.
“The [German] government's failure to accept Kosovo today in the Council of Europe after adopting over 80 percent of the Parliamentary Assembly is a serious mistake. Kosovo fulfills the obligations established by the Parliamentary Assembly. The Council of Europe must not allow Donald Trump and Richard Green to be detected. The Committee of Ministers of Government is owed to the Parliamentary Assembly an explanation and a proposal for a deadline and a road ahead of”, he wrote on X.
He said he will discuss the matter in Vilnius next week.
“We will discuss further steps at the Permanent Committee in Vilnius next week. Thank you for taking bold steps and believing in the power of the Council of Europe. The future is with those who are brave”.
The government's reason to approach Kosovo to the Council of Europe today after more than 80 per capita in the Parliamentary Assembly is a very mysterious one. Kosovo underlies the law by the Parliamental Center.
