Reiss, 63, is a hardline official who has previously led the judiciary sector.
He is close to Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatolah Ali Khamenei, and some analysts suggest he could replace the 85-year-old leader after his death, or giving up power.
Reis has won the 2021 presidential election, the process that is considered with the lowest public appearance in the history of the Islamic Republic.
Reiss is sanctioned by the United States for his involvement in the mass executions of thousands of political prisoners in 1988, at the end of Iran-Iraq bloody war.
