The opening of the Ibër Bridge has become a topic of discussion recently in the country.
In this regard they have been declared by the European Union Office in Pristina.
spokeswoman Ioanna Lachana said any decision concerning the bridge in question should be made within the dialogue in Brussels.
She said that opening the bridge is the agreement reached in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
“The opening of the Mitrovica bridge is the subject of two agreements reached by the parties within the EU's relaxed dialogue in 2015 and 2016. Despite EU efforts at relief over the years, the bridge remains closed to traffic. Since this is an issue that concerns the EU-mediated dialogue, negotiations and any decision regarding the bridge should be made within dialogue with the participation of the official Kosovo and Serbian delegations”, Lacana told Klaan Kosovova.
The EU Office's spokeswoman in Kosovo invited the parties to implement any agreement reached in the EU-launched dialogue.
“The EU remains ready to facilitate the talks. The EU also urges all to refrain from any provocative action that could jeopardise the stability of the ground and turn the parties away from implementing the Agreement for the Normalisation of Relations, which should be their top priority”, Lachana said.
The police have also been declared.
Deputy Director for the northern region Veton Elshani, questioned about the possibility of opening the Ibër Bridge for Traffic, said that “police are ready to implement any decision of the Kosovo Government”.
The Serbian List has also reacted to this topic, saying the opening of the bridge should be in accordance with Serbs living in northern Kosovo.
