At least five dead from powerful storms in Texas

In addition to Texas, storms also hit Oklahoma, as authorities said damage has been caused on homes and on a highway. Thousands have lost electricity due to storms on May 26th.

Devastating storms began Saturday evening, including a tornado that destroyed cars on a highway near Dallas. Officials said some people were sent to hospital in Denton, Texas, but did not reveal more details about their state of health.

In the neighbouring district, Cookie, police told the Associated Press that persons died, including three members of a family, who were found at home in a rural area near the Oklahoma border.

We assume that five people are dead, but unfortunately the number of victims may increase. Nothing's left in their house. The destruction is huge”, police said.

Meteorologists warned tornadoes of different parts of both American states, while other parts of the United States have faced storms this month.

Earlier in the week, five people died in Iowa as a result of tornadoes. / REL
