The price of bread has gone up to 60 cents in several ovens in Pristina and several other municipalities in the country. Citizens complain about such expensiveness until bakers reason on the increase in prices for bread products. But they appreciate that this price has not been needed to increase.
Kosova Prees has secured prices for half a kilo of bread in several furnaces in the capital, where prices have been raised for 100 percent annually, compared to the year 2024 with that of 2010. According to data from the Kosovo Statistics Agency for the past ten years, from 31 cents as much as a pound [half kg] of bread in 2010, in 2022 the average price reached 49 cents. The ASS has not published the mid-rate prices for 2023 and 2024. Until citizens ask the Ministry of Industry and Trade to increase the number of inspectors in order to monitor prices on the ground, they say they are struggling to make ends meet. Citizens, Zarife Soopyan, until she estimates that bread should be released, says that each day, more and more, their lives are being extended at high prices.
That the price of bread is expensive and should be released and the inspector's checks added to the oven, says citizen Hasan Abazi.
He for Kosovo Press stresses that there should be a decrease in the price of bread, not an increase for no reason. Another citizen who wanted to remain anonymous has complained about the price of bread.
There is an increase in the price of bread in some ovens in the country, the manager of a furnace in the capital, Safet Zeneli, who has stressed that price hikes have resulted from increased workers' wages. Similarly, visa liberalisation has contributed to problems with the lack of workers.
