Anti-Corruption Agency Director: We have politicians with billions of assets.

In an interview on the show #Kallxo Pernimme, director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, Ylli Buleskaj, has said Kosovo has politicians who have billions of assets.

But according to him, that wealth cannot be verified, since they may have it abroad.

We have politicians who have billions of assets, there's a lot of them that we can't afford to turn over to the prosecutor, she has closed the case. They may not be in Kosovo, and we have no authorization to conduct investigations abroad. The previous year we were notified by an NGO that a politician has had 5m euros in a Swiss bank, and this was only agreed upon by the bank's flow of data” - he said during the interview at #KallxoPerme at 04.05.2024.

Buleskaj points out that public officials who do not declare property in most cases reason that they have forgotten.

Buleskaj says how the Corruption Prevention Agency does not trust such reasonings.

But when the cases are forwarded to the prosecutor, these reasonings are taken to base, Buleskaj said.

The majority of cases if public officials said they forgot, for us they weren't enough as excuses. There are times when the prosecution entrusted what they said to him. There are many cases when we were not convinced of such reasoning” he said.
