Albania's Foreign Minister, Igli Hasani, used his speech at today's session of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers to talk about Kosovo's application for membership, which managed to enter the agenda of this meeting in Strasbourg.
He said the Committee should act on the basis of what the Parliamentary Assembly of this organisation recommends required that soon hold another meeting where Kosovo would be welcomed as a new member of the KiE.
“The Committee of Ministers must act inspired by the call of the Parliamentary Assembly, which reflects the essential mission of our organisation, welcomes all societies and people who adhere to our values. While the Kosovo government must fulfil its international pledges and listen carefully to its staunchest supporters. Let us no longer waste time in correcting this mistake by soon holding another meeting of the Committee of Ministers and welcoming the people of Kosovo to the Council of Europe”, he has said.
Kosovo's application for membership was not put into today's agenda of the Committee of Ministers, as was expected because Kosovo declined to condition on association to become a member of the KiE.
