Xhaferi: Supporting Kosovo for CoE membership, implementation of agreements means more peace and security in the region

He in this interview has said that the Northern Macedonia Republic Assembly of Parliamentary Assembly has all instructions that tomorrow (16 April) vote in the Council of Europe for Kosovo to become part of this international organisation.

Xhaferi has called on Kosovo and Serbia to continue the relaxed dialogue by the European Union.

It's not up to me anyway to make arrangements for certain situations and issues. However, as a state, as a host of the prime minister's post, we do not understand that we follow all the statements. Our position is that dialogue must continue, the agreements reached, both in Ohrid and in Brussels, must be fulfilled. It means that obligations are mutual on both sides. Realism and implementation of agreements mean more peace, security in the region. As for President Vuciq's statements, I think more Kosovo institutions should be taken and have consideration for those statements and do against actions than we can be declared from the side”, he has said.

He has said that Northern Macedonia will support Kosovo in membership in the Council of Europe, while stressing that Kosovo and the countries of the region should be members of all international organisations.

“We as a normal country that in support of the Republic of Kosovo we have made all instructions that our representatives should be made in relevant bodies. Concretically tomorrow in Strasbourg, the North Republic of Macedonia Assembly delegation has all instructions to support the initiative and the pro-member vote of the Republic of Kosovo. Of course, we share the thought that countries should be members of all international bodies”, he said.

Northern Macedonia's prime minister has stressed that the essence of agreements between Kosovo and Serbia is that the two countries do not stumble each other for membership in international organisations.

He has said that as a state supports impartiality for the agreements to be implemented in line with what is also the ultimate goal, mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia.

Even the essence of agreements is not preventing each other from tendencies, insistence and the need for membership in international bodies. So we rely on the basic principles of international relations and will not mind that we support impartiality for the agreements to be implemented in a better way than is the ultimate goal of both countries to have mutual recognition among themselves and to relax the reports between themselves”, he has said.
